DAFE profs present RDE papers

during the Agency In-House Review at CvSU, Indang, Cavite.

Four faculty members of the Department of Agricultural and Food Engineering (DAFE) presented RDE papers during the Agency In-House Review of the Cavite State University (CvSU) on July 24 – 25, 2013 at the SM Rolle Hall, CvSU, Indang, Cavite. 

Dr. Ruel M. Mojica presented a paper “Empowering Small-Scale Coffee Farmers through Long-term Support from NCRDEC” during the In-House Review for Extension on July 24, 2013. He also presented a research paper “Technology Piloting and Commercialization of Microcontroller-based Coffee Roasting Machine” in the In-House Review for Research and Development on July 25, 2013. The two papers won second and first place best papers under extension and development category, respectively.

Dr. Leyma L. Cero presented her paper “Assessment of Water Supply and Demand of Cavite” during the In-House Review for Research and Development. Meanwhile, Drs. David L. Cero and Marilyn M. Escobar presented the progress report of “R&D Program for Small-Scale Integrated Coffee Processing System” and "Low Glycemic Sugar Production from Kaong (Arenga pinnata (Wurmb) Merr.)", respectively. (GMCastillo)

DAFE welcomes new members

Engrs. Diomel C. Gillesania and Jhunlyn J. Lorenzo

Engrs. Diomel C. Gillesania and Jhunlyn J. Lorenzo are the two new faculty members of the Department of Agricultural and Food Engineering (DAFE) this Academic Year 2013-2014. They teach mathematics subjects such as college algebra, plane and spherical trigonometry, and calculus.

Engr. Gillesania is a registered Electrical Engineer and worked as an engineering science instructor at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) from 2010 to 2013. He also tutors students from premier schools in Manila. Meanwhile, Engr. Lorenzo is a registered electronics engineer and a fresh graduate from this University. She was a consistent scholar and a mathematics quizzer during her college years. (GMCastillo)

New DAFE chair

Dr. Leyma L. Cero was designated chair of the Department of Agricultural and Food Engineering (DAFE) effective June 1 to December 31, 2013. Dr. Cero also held the same designation in June 2001 to May 2003 before she became the director for Planning of the University in 2003 to 2007. 

Dr. Cero holds a PhD degree in Agricultural Engineering and teaches major subjects in the AE and Environmental Science programs. She was awarded as the Most Outstanding Agricultural Engineer in Agricultural Engineering Education by the Philippine Society of Agricultural Engineers in 2012. (GMCastillo)
