DAFE Faculty and Students Excel at the 21st PSABE IV-A Regional Convention

Faculty members and students from the Department of Agricultural and Food Engineering (DAFE) at Cavite State University (CvSU) showcased their expertise and excellence at the 21st PSABE IV-A Regional Convention, held on January 31, 2025, at the Ynares Events Center, Antipolo City, Rizal. Themed “Innovating for a Sustainable Future: Advancing the Agriculture and Environment Sectors through Engineering,” the event gathered Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers (ABEs) from across the region to discuss technological advancements and sustainable solutions for the industry.

A highlight of the convention was the plenary session, which featured distinguished speakers sharing insights on advancing agricultural and environmental sustainability through engineering. Among them was Dr. Ruel M. Mojica, a University Professor and esteemed DAFE faculty member, who delivered a talk on "Accelerating the Future of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering through Technology Commercialization." Dr. Mojica emphasized the critical role of research and innovation in transforming engineering solutions into market-ready technologies, highlighting the need for stronger collaboration between the academe, industry, and government to drive progress in the field.

Adding to DAFE’s achievements at the convention, the PSABE PPG CvSU Chapter competed in the 1st PSABE Pre-Professional Group (PPG) Quiz Contest, demonstrating their knowledge and skills in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering. Both CvSU teams secured spots in the top three, with the team of Charles Kaven Gonzales, Ezekiel Borasca, and CJhaye Ron Costa emerging as champions, while Erica Keith Sanchez, Liane Mojica, and John Bryan Alcantara clinched 3rd place. The teams were coached by Engr. John Paulo M. Perido, a dedicated DAFE faculty member, whose mentorship contributed to their outstanding performance.

DAFE’s strong presence at the 21st PSABE IV-A Regional Convention not only highlighted the department’s leadership in agricultural and biosystems engineering but also reinforced its commitment to academic excellence, research, and professional development. (VVVergara)
