The Coastal Ocean Assessment for Sustainability and Transformation (COAST) Card is a research program that embraces a transnational and transdisciplinary approach to solving global sustainability challenges. It was funded by Belmont Forum, a consortium of research funders that focuses on research that allows the participation of stakeholders in a co-design and co-development process. This research project comprised teams from the United States, The Philippines, Norway, India, and Japan. The project aims to extend and adapt the developed framework of Chesapeake Bay in the United States to Manila Bay in the Philippines, Tokyo Bay and Sekisei Lagoon in Japan, and the Goa Coast in India.
