Dr. Camilo A. Polinga and Prof. Jaime Q. Dilidili, faculty members of DAFE, participated in the Trainers’ Training on Methane Capture and Use held on 17 - 20 August 2010 at the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP), Tagaytay City. The training was conducted in connection with the project entitled “Capacity Building for Methane Recovery and Use for Agro-Industries in the Philippines” which aims to promote methane recovery and utilization in the agro-industries sector.
The training focused on “Biodigester Development for Pig Farms in the Philippines” with emphasis on CDM methodologies and tools accepted by the world carbon market. Foreign experts provided by United States Environmental Protection Agency (US-EPA) were the trainors. Methane to market project is a partnership between World Bank and the US Environmental Protection Agency. It is implemented in the Philippines by the Philippine Council for Industry and Energy Research and Development – Department of Science and Technology. The training was participated by biogas experts and researchers both from the government and private sectors.
