CvSU Research and Extension Agenda

Cavite State University is mandated to provide quality instruction as well as provide services to the community through responsive research and extension specific to the needs of the community brought by present environmental and developmental challenges. Additionally, CvSU envisions to help alleviate the standard of living of the economically and socially disadvantaged sectors of society through its extension programs. This commitment involves the university actively engaging in uplifting the lives of farmers, women, out-of-school youths, local government employees, and other beneficiaries by offering pertinent education and training, agricultural and business advisory services, demonstration programs, and information and communication technology services. 

CvSU Research Thrusts and Agenda 

CEIT Research Agenda

In relation to the University Research and Extension agenda, the College of Engineering and Information Technology   formulated its own Integrated Research, Development, and Extension Agenda and Programs (CEIT-IRDEAP).  Out of the CEIT-IRDEAP, the College has developed the following objectives in implementing its research programs:

  • design and develop innovative information and communications technologies;
  • design and develop appropriate technologies for industrial and agricultural applications;
  • develop technologies on the utilization, protection and conservation of agricultural land and freshwater supply in Cavite;
  • prepare land use and infrastructure development plans of the College’s service area;
  • conduct public health and wellness assessment;
  • design plan and system for water and wastewater management;
  • evaluate and promote new and renewable energy technologies;
  • design and implement systems that will help improve the office operations;
  • provide expertise in the promotion and preservation of cultural heritage sites; and
  • enhance dissemination and adoption of appropriate technologies developed in the College.

Department of Agricultural and Food Engineering  (DAFE) Research  Agenda

The Department of Agricultural and Food Engineering‘s research program/ agenda/ activities are based on the knowledge, skills, and expertise acquired through the Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering curriculum at the University.  This approach is complemented by a strong understanding of the requirements and obstacles faced by clients, and available resources, which serve as guiding factors in the department's pursuit of innovative solutions. These are also anchored on the University, regional, and national development thrusts and directions.

In accordance with the CEIT-IRDEAP, the researches of the faculty members and students of the ABE section are applications of the courses covered in the four major field of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering namely: AB Power and Machinery Engineering, AB Land and Water Resources Engineering, AB Process Engineering, and AB Structures Engineering. With these, research of BSABE program focus on:

·       Development of agricultural and biosystems machinery and equipment

·   Integration of renewable energy on the agricultural and biosystem machines, facilities, and systems.

·       Agricultural and Biological Waste Utilization and Management

·       Agricultural and Bio-information systems

·       Agricultural and Biosystems automation and instrumentation

·       Agricultural and Bioprocessing

·       Agricultural and Biosystems buildings and structures

·       Agricultural and Biosystems Resource Conservation and Management

·       Land and water resources management and conservation

·       Aquaculture Engineering

·       Forest Engineering

·       Agrometeorology
