Last October 2-6, 2023, DAFE faculty members, Engr. Arnel R. Feraer and Engr. Daniel G. Sierra participated in the "Training of Trainers on Postharvest Technologies: Drying and Milling" organized by the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech) in Mabitac, Laguna.
The training, attended by representatives from rice farmer cooperatives, farm schools, and various LGUs and SUCs from Region IV-A, is a crucial part of the implementation of the RA11203: Rice Tariffication Law (RTL). Under Section 13, the Rice Competitive Enhancement Fund (RCEF) was established to invest in developing rice mechanization and postharvest facilities.
The aim of the Training of Trainers (TOT) is to equip professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to provide extension services to beneficiaries of different rice machineries in milling and drying, which will be awarded by PhilMech.
