The Department of Agricultural and Food Engineering (DAFE) joined the CEIT community in welcoming faculty members and students from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia, during the opening program of COMPASS 2026: Collaborative Opportunities for Mobility, Partnerships, Academic Synergy, and Sustainability — A Student and Faculty Exchange Program on September 14, 2026, at the CvSU International Convention Center.
The event was attended by the DAFE faculty
members, along with the rest of the CEIT community, headed by its Dean, Dr.
Willie C. Buclatin, and the CvSU International and Local Collaborations and
Linkages Office (ILCLO) Director, Prof. Ma. Veronica P. Penaflorida. The
opening program also featured technical sessions from both CvSU and UiTM, with
Engr. Al Owen Roy A. Ferrera of DAFE as one of the speakers.
In his talk, “Beyond Classrooms: Exploring Opportunities Through Partnerships,” Engr. Ferrera shared DAFE’s various engagements and partnerships in instruction, extension, research, and industry immersion. His presentation highlighted how collaboration with external partners provides opportunities for BSABE students and DAFE faculty to gain experiences beyond the classroom and connect academic learning with actual practice.
The engagement with UiTM provided an avenue
for academic exchange, networking, and the sharing of experiences between
students and faculty from both institutions. The visiting participants are
expected to stay at CvSU until September 19, 2026. Meanwhile, BSABE students
and PSABE-PPG officers Luis S. Gaddi, Zachary Shan S. Suazo, and Rain M.
Mercado also participated in various COMPASS 2026 activities, including
academic exchanges, cultural activities, institutional engagements, case study
preparation and presentation, and educational tours.
Furthermore, Rain M. Mercado, who was grouped with students from different programs and universities, received several awards during the case study presentation. She is also currently in Malaysia as part of the exchange program, further extending her participation in the COMPASS 2026 activities beyond the CvSU campus.
Through COMPASS 2026, CvSU and UiTM continue
to build academic connections and institutional relationships that transcend
beyond borders, creating opportunities for collaboration, learning, and shared
experiences (MSPerido).
