On November 7, 2024, Engr. John Paulo M. Perido, MSc, DAFE faculty, shared his expertise as a guest speaker at the DA-Bureau of Plant Industry (DA-BPI) training on Technical Writing for Experimental Design, Methodology, and Results and Discussions. The event, held at the BPI Conference Room, was organized by the Office of the Assistant Director for Research, Development, and Production Support Services, led by AD Herminigilda A. Gabertan, Ph.D.
Engr.
Perido introduced fundamental principles of experimental design, guiding
participants through essential methodologies such as Completely Randomized
Design, Randomized Complete Block Designs, and Factorial Experiments. His
presentation emphasized the importance of Post Hoc Analysis in interpreting
experimental results, highlighting its role in enhancing the quality of
research reports and proposals.
To
reinforce the learning experience, Q&A sessions, practical exercises, and
pre-tests were conducted, allowing attendees to apply concepts in real-time and
assess their understanding. The training aimed to strengthen the technical
writing skills of current and aspiring DA-BPI researchers, equipping them with
the tools necessary to effectively document research findings and craft
data-driven proposals.
Attendees
included representatives from various BPI divisions and centers, with
additional participants joining remotely via Zoom. Engr. Perido’s involvement
underscores DAFE's commitment to advancing research quality and professional
development in the agricultural sector, fostering knowledge-sharing and
skill-building among researchers. (VVVergara)
