Engr. John Paulo M. Perido participated in the 2-day Training-Workshop on Technology Readiness Level (TRL) held on September 14–15, 2026, at View Park Hotel, Tagaytay City, Cavite. The event was hosted by the DOST-Southern Tagalog Consortium for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (STCIEERD).
The training-workshop aimed to strengthen the
capabilities of researchers and institutional representatives in assessing the
maturity of technologies using the Technology Readiness Level framework. It
provided participants with practical knowledge and tools to evaluate technology
readiness, identify development gaps, and formulate strategies for advancing
research outputs toward technology utilization and potential commercialization.
The event brought together representatives
from various institutions with existing R&D outputs and technologies. The
technical sessions covered the TRL framework and evidence-based assessment,
intellectual property and freedom-to-operate considerations, investment and
market readiness, and pathways for technology commercialization.
Participants also engaged in activities such
as patent searching, patent drafting, and the assessment of technology
readiness and freedom to operate for identified technologies. These activities
provided participants with practical experience in evaluating technologies
beyond the research and development stage.
The training-workshop provided additional
knowledge and practical tools that can support the assessment and advancement
of research outputs toward technology utilization and commercialization. It
also contributed to strengthening research and innovation capabilities and
fostering collaboration among institutions across the CALABARZON region
(MSPerido).
